15-year-old
sexually assaulted in Rutland
September 21, 2007
Kelowna, BC: Police investigate another assault in the
Rutland area
Members of the Kelowna RCMP responded to a sexual assault
last night at around 9:15pm. Investigators learned that
a 15-year-old Kelowna girl, who had been walking home
from a bus stop at Highway 33 and Gertsmar Road, was attacked
by an unknown man. While walking on Gertsmar Road, the
victim was pushed to the ground by her attacker and sexually
assaulted. The victim yelled out and fought off her attacker
at which point he fled the area. The suspect is described
as a Caucasian man, approximately 6"0 tall, with
light colored shaved hair, and clean shaven.
The investigators are asking anyone who may have taken
the #10 City Bus from Orchard Park Mall last night at
9:00pm, and exited at the bus stop located on Highway
33 at Gertsmar Road (near the Shell Gas Station), to please
contact the Kelowna RCMP by calling 762-3300.
At this time investigators do believe that this incident
is related to four other assaults which have all occurred
since July 26th, 2007. Police would like to warn the Public
once again to avoid walking alone during the evening hours
if at all possible.
The investigation is continuing.
