Coquitlam - Coquitlam RCMP want parents and guardians to keep a close watch on their children. Wednesday December 6th, officers were called to 2 separate locations to investigate incidents of a man approaching young children while they were outside playing in the snow.

The first call came from the principal of Fatima Elementary School. At approximately 12:40 p.m., several young girls (6 years old) were outside playing during recess when a man approached them. He asked if they had seen his dog “Buster”. The girls said no and advised a supervisor. The suspect was gone by the time the supervisor went to check. He is described as a man with yellow streaks in his hair wearing brown pants and a navy blue jacket or vest.

The second incident happened at approximately 1:27 p.m. when a group of students (8 years old) from Miller Park Community School were playing in the snow. A man came walking by and made a comment about how cute they were. A playground supervisor saw this happened (from a distance) and called out to the man. He ran off. The second suspect was described as a young man with short hair. He was wearing a dark hat, dark pants, and light colored runners.

No attempts were made to touch or grab any children in either incident. It does not appear the two incident are related. Please be diligent and watch your children. The police investigation continues.

If you have information related to either of these incidents please call the Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
