Police track creepy cameraman

Saanich police are searching for a man who is videotaping teenage girls as they walk to school.

"We definitely want to identify this man and find out if there are any court restrictions on him he may be violating," said Sgt. John Price.

Police were alerted to the man on Tuesday morning when two teenage girls spotted him videotaping another girl as she walked on a pedestrian overpass at McKenzie Avenue and Carey Road.

The pair said he then began following them, so they ran to school and called police.

Yesterday morning a 13-year-old girl said she saw a man with a video camera in the bushes next to the Telus building in the 500-block of Judah Street.

"The man was on his knees in the bushes partially hidden from view," Price said. "The girl reported that the man was wearing a hat and holding a silver-coloured video camera."

The man is described as a short, clean-shaven Asian with short, dark hair.

School districts have been notified to be on the lookout.
