Police are warning the public that a man who once abducted
a six-year-old girl and sexually assaulted her has been
released from prison and is living in a halfway house
in Vancouver.
Police said Sean Douglas Macleod, 41, poses a significant
risk to women and girls.
The alert followed a risk assessment done before Macleod
was released on Friday from William Head Institution in
Metchosin.
Macleod was sentenced in 1995 to 17 years after pleading
guilty to kidnapping the six-year-old from her Calgary
home and sexually assaulting her.
He was arrested seven hours later, less than a block
from the girl's home.
Macleod is five-feet-10 and 170 pounds, with short greying
hair, blue eyes and a scar on his forehead.
His parole conditions include a ban on intoxicants and
an order to stay away from places children are likely
to be.
