TROIS-RIVIERES, Que. -- Police searching for a missing
nine-year-old girl believe she is still alive three weeks
after her disappearance.
Insp. Martin Prud'homme, who is leading the Surete du
Quebec's investigation, said the team looking into the
disappearance of Cedrika Provencher has received information
that she has been seen with a man.
"There is nothing that indicates the contrary,"
Prud'homme said Wednesday about whether investigators
still believe she is alive.
So far, investigators have received 3,000 tips, 1,000
of them have been listed as credible enough to check and
1,200 people have been interviewed.
Prud'homme said that the investigative team has been
touched by Cedrika's story.
"A lot of us have kids that are about the same age
and this can't help but touch us," he said. "We
really want to solve this in a positive manner."
Cedrika's father met with police for an hour Wednesday
to get an update on the case.
Four girls in the area have reported being approached
by a man asking for help in searching for his dog.
There is an $80,000 reward for any information that could
help police solve the case.
