Police are warning children and parents to be vigilant
after a man tried to lure an 11-year-old girl into his
car in Guildford.
"The man asked her to come over to his car,"
said Surrey RCMP Cpl. Roger Morrow. "The girl told
the man to leave her alone and walked away."
The man, a South Asian about 50 years old with black
hair, followed the girl, opened the passenger door and
asked her to get in.
He said, "Hop in, I won't do anything to you,"
said Morrow.
The girl ran away and the man fled. He was driving an
older-model, four-door, blue or black car with a black,
orange and white for-sale sign in the rear window.
The incident occurred near 94 Avenue and 151A Street
about 11 a.m. Sunday.
"This fellow did this in broad daylight and we now
have kids going around trick-or-treating," said Morrow.
"Hopefully, the message will get out to parents that
this occurred."
"Hopefully, the parents will be spending that precious
time with their kids . . . and go out [with them] and
enjoy the Halloween trick-or-treating and make sure they're
safe."
