Inappropriate Behaviour Lands Male in Custody
On the evening of Wednesday, August 8th, a lifeguard
working at a pool in the 8000 block of Wedgewood Avenue,
was alerted by an astute witness about a male who was
allegedly acting in an inappropriate manner towards two
youth(through conversation and actions). The lifeguard
asked the male to leave the pool and immediately contacted
the police. Burnaby RCMP attended the location and found
the suspect male outside. Officers spoke with this male
and detected a strong odour of liquor on his breath and
observed him holding a bottle of an alcoholic beverage.
Investigation revealed that this male was also currently
on probation for previous situations and had to abide
by various conditions. The following conditions had now
been breached:
- Do not attend at any public park or public swimming
area where persons under the age of 14 are present or
can reasonably be expected to be present.
- Do not possess or consume alcoholic beverages or drugs
not prescribed to you by a medical doctor.
43 year old Narinder WASAN from Burnaby was arrested
at the scene and attended Vancouver Provincial Court on
August 9, 2007. He has been remanded into custody until
August 14, 2007. the investigation is ongoing and further
charges are anticipated.
