Inappropriate Behaviour Lands Male in Custody

On the evening of Wednesday, August 8th, a lifeguard working at a pool in the 8000 block of Wedgewood Avenue, was alerted by an astute witness about a male who was allegedly acting in an inappropriate manner towards two youth(through conversation and actions). The lifeguard asked the male to leave the pool and immediately contacted the police. Burnaby RCMP attended the location and found the suspect male outside. Officers spoke with this male and detected a strong odour of liquor on his breath and observed him holding a bottle of an alcoholic beverage. Investigation revealed that this male was also currently on probation for previous situations and had to abide by various conditions. The following conditions had now been breached:
- Do not attend at any public park or public swimming area where persons under the age of 14 are present or can reasonably be expected to be present.
- Do not possess or consume alcoholic beverages or drugs not prescribed to you by a medical doctor.

43 year old Narinder WASAN from Burnaby was arrested at the scene and attended Vancouver Provincial Court on August 9, 2007. He has been remanded into custody until August 14, 2007. the investigation is ongoing and further charges are anticipated.
