Ridge Meadows RCMP are looking for a man who tailed a
teenage girl Monday and tried to call her over to his
car.The girl was walking near Edge Street in Maple Ridge
at about 7 p.m. when she noticed she was being followed
by a man in a black Honda.
The man called out to the girl twice, but she ignored
him.
"At one point he got out of the car, but from what
the girl could tell he didn't try to run after her,"
police spokesman Dan Herbranson said yesterday.
The girl eventually started to run and ducked between
some buildings.
Police are looking for a Caucasian man in his 30s with
a muscular build and short, dark hair. He's about six
feet tall and wears glasses. He was driving a black, newer-model
Honda, possibly a Civic.
"We'd love to identify this person," said Herbranson.
"Sometimes in these cases, this isn't the only incident,
and we want to get the word out there and see if this
has happened before."
Herbranson said Monday's incident by itself would not
warrant criminal charges.
